GHMC repairs 14,112 potholes across Hyderabad in post-monsoon road safety drive

Hyderabad: With the monsoon season coming to a close, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has accelerated its road safety drive, repairing 14,112 potholes across the city to ensure safer and smoother travel.

GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan said the corporation has launched round-the-clock repair operations, which include pothole filling, catch-pit repairs, drain cover replacements, patch work, and central median restorations.

GHMC aims to fill all 16,541 potholes within a week

“As the rains subside, GHMC has intensified road restoration works to avoid public inconvenience and traffic jams,” Commissioner Karnan said. Maintenance Chief Engineer Sahadev Ratnakar is overseeing the citywide operations.

So far, GHMC has restored:

  • 14,112 potholes
  • 771 catch-pits
  • 367 manhole covers
  • 18 central medians

GHMC has set an ambitious target to repair all 16,541 identified potholes within a week, aiming to minimize traffic congestion and enhance commuter safety during peak travel times.
