Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Wednesday marked Praja Palana Dinotsavam with a flag hoisting at its headquarters. Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi and GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan hoisted the National Flag to commemorate Hyderabad’s integration with the Indian Union on September 17, 1948.
Officials said the day honours the people’s fight for freedom and dignity. They also noted that it reflects the democratic journey of Telangana.
GHMC outlines projects to strengthen Hyderabad’s global image
The Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi said Hyderabad, the heart of Telangana, is receiving focused attention to build a stronger global identity. In addition, he highlighted projects such as Future City, Musi River rejuvenation, and H-City. According to him, these efforts will lift Hyderabad’s status as a world-class metropolis.
The Commissioner RV Karnan explained that GHMC remains committed to transparency and accountability. Moreover, he said citizen-centric governance reflects the true spirit of Praja Palana. He stressed that the civic body will continue to create a cleaner, greener, and more inclusive Hyderabad.
