Hyderabad: GHSPCA rescued six Indian Roller birds from illegal trade in different parts of the city on Friday.
The Greater Hyderabad Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GHSPCA) said its 20-member team carried out operations across four spots. Volunteers intercepted a seller at Nayeb Pets shop in Abids while he tried to sell one bird for ₹3,000.
They also seized three birds at the Tadbund Hanuman Temple. Another volunteer rescued one bird near Mahakali Police Station in Secunderabad, while a sixth volunteer recovered another near Astalaxmi temple in RK Puram.
GHSPCA finds Indian Roller birds dehydrated in Hyderabad
Volunteers said the Indian Rollers showed dehydration and stress during rescue. GHSPCA placed the birds under medical observation. The group confirmed it will release them back into the wild once they regain health.
