Hyderabad: GITAM Deemed to be University will confer an honorary doctorate on R. Venkateswara Rao, founder and chairman of RVR Projects Pvt. Ltd, at its 16th convocation on July 19 in recognition of his contributions to infrastructure and education.
Venkateswara Rao, widely known as RVR, has led RVR Projects to national prominence with work spanning transport, energy, water, and urban infrastructure. His leadership has been credited with consistent quality, timely execution, and sectoral innovation.
The university also announced honorary degrees for two other achievers Dr B. Venkatraman, former director of the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, and social entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham, known globally as ‘Padman’.
Beyond business, RVR has championed rural education. As chairman of the Rama School of Excellence under the Ramlal Prabhuji Education Trust, he has spearheaded initiatives bringing digital classrooms and modern pedagogy to underserved regions.
GITAM’s honorary degrees honour individuals demonstrating excellence, leadership, and social commitment. The university cited RVR’s role in national development and educational uplift as reasons for the recognition.
