Hyderabad: With heavy rains lashing Telangana and upstream states, the Godavari River is rising dangerously at Bhadrachalam. On Wednesday, the water level reached 43 feet, prompting officials to issue the first flood warning.
District Collector and SP are closely monitoring the situation. Authorities have already placed emergency teams on high alert. Officials said if the water level continues to rise, around 15 low-lying villages may face submergence.
Relief centres have been prepared in advance to accommodate affected residents. Sources said officials have also readied heavy-duty pumps to prevent sluice gate leakage if the second warning threshold is breached.
The Godavari remains under watch as the weather department forecasts more rainfall in the region.
