Hyderabad: Tensions flared at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday as women leaders from Gosha Mahal staged a sharp protest against Telangana Mahila Congress president Sunitha Rao.
Chanting slogans like “Sunitha Rao hatao, Gosha Mahal Congress bachao” and “Down down Sunitha Rao,” the leaders accused her of damaging the party from within.
Their main charge: Sunitha Rao, while holding an organisational post, made baseless allegations against the TPCC president. The protestors demanded disciplinary action, calling her conduct a betrayal of party norms.
Leaders warned there would be zero tolerance for personal attacks on the TPCC chief seen by many as a symbol of party commitment and order. “No room for mudslinging under the guise of leadership,” one protestor said.
They also flagged Mahesh Kumar Goud’s rise from grassroots worker to TPCC president as proof that the Congress still rewards dedication. “He’s come up the hard way. That’s the Congress we believe in,” said one leader.
