The meeting saw the participation of various officials, including Chief Minister’s Advisor Mohammad Ali Shabbir, Hyderabad city legislators Ahmed Bilala, Jaffer Hussain Meraj, Moazzam Khan, Mohammad Majid Hussain, and the Secretary of the Department of Minorities Welfare, Tafseer Iqbal. Other prominent figures from departments such as the Minority Welfare Directorate, Tameer, and the Wakf Board also attended the session.
During the meeting, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar instructed all officials to work in coordination with one another and to ensure all necessary measures are in place to provide adequate facilities for worshippers during Ramazan. He emphasized the importance of continuous attention to the supply of electricity, clean water, waste disposal, and other essential services in key areas, including major mosques and intersections in Hyderabad. The state government has prioritised these efforts not only in Hyderabad but also in other Muslim-majority areas across the state.
Chief Minister’s Advisor, Mohammad Ali Shabbir, expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for issuing a government order (GO) that allows Muslim employees to leave offices one hour early during Ramazan. Shabbir also welcomed the issuance of a GO facilitating late-night business operations during the month. He stressed that this would ease business activities during Ramazan and recommended similar measures be extended to other cities, with proper instructions given to police officials.
Additionally, Shabbir urged a review of the condition of carpets at the Macca Masjid and the Shahi Masjid, as well as the performance of CCTV cameras in key mosque areas.
Secretary of Minorities Welfare, Tafseer Iqbal, assured that all departments, including electricity, municipal, labour, and police, would coordinate to strengthen the provision of basic services throughout Ramazan. Officials provided updates on the measures already implemented, and issues raised by public representatives were duly noted by Minister Ponnam Prabhakar. He assured that necessary instructions would be given to senior officers to address these concerns.
Minister Prabhakar reiterated the government’s commitment to treating all citizens equally and compassionately, especially during Ramazan, and emphasised that the focus would remain on ensuring the availability and stability of essential services during the holy month. He also mentioned that significant work had been completed in road construction and repair by the Departments of Buildings and Roads, with the remaining work to be finished soon.
