Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma visited the historic Ujjaini Mahankali temple in Secunderabad on Friday and offered bonam to the presiding deity as part of Bonalu festivities.
The Governor’s wife carried the bonam in the traditional manner and made the offering to the goddess. Later, the Governor presented silk robes and participated in special rituals along with family members.
The Governor was formally welcomed by Hyderabad district in-charge minister Ponnam Prabhakar, collector Dasari Hari Chandana, Endowments Commissioner I Venkata Rao, and temple executive officer Manohar Reddy.
In view of the Governor’s visit, North Zone DCP Rashmi Perumal supervised tight security arrangements around the temple premises.
