Hyderabad: Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Monday launched the 76th TB Seal Sale Campaign at a formal event in Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad. He called it a collective responsibility to eliminate tuberculosis from the country.
While addressing the audience, the Governor said the campaign was more than a tradition. According to him, it represented a moral obligation to build a healthier and more compassionate nation. He pointed out that tuberculosis remains a serious health and social issue, closely linked to poverty, malnutrition, and poor awareness.
“TB Mukt Bharat does not mean preventing TB; it means removing TB completely,” he stated. He urged youth icons, artists, athletes, NGOs, companies, and educational institutions to support the goal of a TB-free India.

Governor Varma commended the Tuberculosis Association of Telangana for its consistent work in awareness, testing, nutritional aid, and research. He recommended using corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds to provide each district with portable X-ray machines.
He also pledged full support from Raj Bhavan, which he said would act as a catalyst in Telangana’s anti-TB drive. The campaign, he added, must be guided by compassion, cooperation, and long-term commitment.
Several dignitaries attended the event. These included Principal Secretary to the Governor M. Dana Kishore, senior Raj Bhavan officials, and healthcare leaders like Dr. B. Sai Babu and Dr. A. Rajesham. Volunteers and members of the Tuberculosis Association of Telangana were also present.
