Hyderabad: State IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu inaugurated the new Telangana State Consular Waiting Area at the US Consulate in Hyderabad. He emphasized that every government initiative aims to serve Telangana citizens directly.
Built by TGIIC at a ₹1.5 crore cost, the waiting area offers air-conditioned seating, secure amenities, and comfort for over 3,000 daily visitors. Sridhar Babu said the design resulted from a ground-level study of visitor needs. He noted that inadequate facilities had previously caused public inconvenience.
“We are not just focusing on IT-industrial projects,” he said. “We also develop amenities that improve daily lives.” With this new facility, the government demonstrates its commitment to practical public service.
The minister noted that the US is a key partner in sectors like pharma, aerospace, electronics, and electric vehicles. Nearly 38% of Telangana’s IT exports go to North America. Major multinationals such as Google, Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft operate from Hyderabad.
He added that US firms invested ₹31,500 crore in Telangana by January, generating 30,000 jobs. “The lounge supports smoother business travel, and more importantly, fosters people‑to‑people ties,” he stated. US Consul General Jennifer Larson and other dignitaries attended the event.
