Hyderabad: Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Tuesday announced that the state government had sanctioned ₹8.5 crore for development works in Gudurupadu village. He said this allocation was made within two years of forming a people’s government.
The minister laid foundation stones for several infrastructure projects. These included a ₹1.1 crore BT road from Gudurupadu to Akkeru via the crematorium, and a ₹3.3 crore BT road connecting MV Palem-Gudurupadu road to the village tank.
He personally reviewed the progress of the ₹2.97 crore BT road between Gudurupadu and Gorlapadu. Additionally, the government sanctioned ₹35 lakh for internal CC roads, ₹21 lakh for a new sub-health centre building, and ₹7 lakh for improving drinking water access.
Responding to local requests, Ponguleti approved a new road to the cold storage facility.
Indiramma homes and welfare schemes progressing in phases
Ponguleti highlighted that 17 Indiramma houses have already been sanctioned in the village. He assured that future phases of the housing scheme will cover all eligible families. According to him, the government is committed to delivering every welfare promise made to low-income residents.
He also detailed several key welfare initiatives. These include free bus travel for women, 200 units of free electricity, distribution of ration cards to 16 lakh households, and provision of fine rice starting from Ugadi.
Education, farmer support schemes also underway
In the education sector, the minister said the government increased diet charges by 40% and cosmetic charges by 200% in residential schools. Under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, ₹9,000 crore was deposited directly into farmers’ accounts over nine days.
For those cultivating fine rice, the state is offering a ₹500 bonus in addition to the Minimum Support Price.
Ponguleti called on the public to support the government’s inclusive development agenda.
Officials and local leaders, including Additional Collector P. Srinivas Reddy, Special Officer Ramesh, RDO Narasimha Rao, MPDO Ravikumar, R&B SE Yakobu, and others, were present at the event.
