HYDERABAD: Legislative Council chairman Gutha Sukhendar has questioned the claims of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) being the “hero of four crore people” in Telangana, citing his party’s recent electoral defeat. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, he criticised the perception that KCR remains the undisputed leader of the state despite the public verdict.
Sukhendar pointed out that if KCR enjoyed such widespread support, he should have secured victory in the last assembly elections. He accused the party leadership of being disconnected from ground realities and ignoring the people’s concerns, leading to the downfall of the BRS in the polls.
He further stated that the current Congress-led government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is making efforts to address the state’s issues, while BRS continues to dwell on past glory. Sukhendar urged his party colleagues to reflect on the reasons behind their electoral loss and focus on rebuilding public trust.
His comments have stirred political debate, with reactions from both BRS supporters and opposition leaders.
