HYDERABAD: In response to soaring temperatures, the Andhra Pradesh government has announced a revision in school timings, implementing half-day sessions for students across the state. Effective from March 15 to April 24, all schools, including government, Zilla Parishad, municipal, private aided, and private unaided institutions, will operate from 7:45 AM to 12:30 PM.
This decision aims to safeguard students from the intensifying heatwave conditions prevalent during this period. School Education Director V. Vijay Rama Raju issued proceedings to this effect, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the revised schedule.
For schools designated as SSC examination centers, classes will be conducted in the afternoon session from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM to accommodate examination schedules.
The half-day school timetable is structured as follows:
– First Bell: 7:45 AM
– Second Bell: 7:50 AM
– School Assembly: 7:50 AM to 8:00 AM
– First Period: 8:00 AM to 8:40 AM
– Water Break: 8:40 AM to 8:45 AM
– Second Period: 8:45 AM to 9:25 AM
– Third Period: 9:25 AM to 10:05 AM
– Short Break: 10:05 AM to 10:30 AM
– Fourth Period: 10:30 AM to 11:10 AM
– Fifth Period: 11:10 AM to 11:50 AM
– Sixth Period: 11:50 AM to 12:30 PM
Headmasters have been instructed to closely monitor the implementation of these measures to ensure the well-being of both students and teachers during this period.
Following the half-day schedule, summer vacations are slated to commence from April 24, with schools reopening on June 12 for the new academic year.
