Hyderabad: BRS MLA and former minister T Harish Rao launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu, accusing both of colluding against Telangana’s water interests.
“If a list were made of those who betrayed Telangana, Chandrababu would top it, with Revanth Reddy following close behind,” Harish Rao said at the BRS Vidyarthi (BRSV) state-level meeting in Hyderabad on Saturday.
He alleged Revanth Reddy had failed both the Telangana agitation and the State itself, claiming the Congress leader only submitted a photocopy of his resignation during the movement while BRS leaders stood their ground.
Referring to Revanth’s reputation during the agitation, Rao said he earned the name ‘Rifle Reddy’ for allegedly targeting activists. “When lions don’t tell their stories, the hunter’s tale becomes the truth,” Rao added, urging students to record and share KCR’s contributions.
He accused the Congress government of attempting to erase Telangana’s cultural legacy by removing KCR’s name from textbooks, altering the Telangana Talli statue, dropping Bathukamma celebrations, and ignoring the Ambedkar statue.
Harish Rao said the same mindset behind attempts to erase the 1969 Telangana movement history is now trying to rewrite recent political history.
Criticising Revanth for placing national leaders above the State, he said, “He never speaks for Telangana. Instead, he flatters Delhi, Sonia, and Modi.” Rao alleged that Revanth’s governance prioritises political alignments over Telangana’s interests, accusing him of aiding the Banakacherla project in Andhra Pradesh.
“Revanth is diverting Telangana’s water to Andhra, and public funds to Rahul Gandhi. This is the reality of his governance,” Rao said, accusing the Congress, BJP, and TDP of working in tandem against the State.
The BRSV meet, attended by KT Rama Rao, Gellu Srinivas Yadav, G Jagadish Reddy, Deshapathi Srinivas and others, resolved to launch a protest campaign against the Banakacherla project.
