Hyderabad: BRS senior leader T. Harish Rao on Tuesday accused the Congress-led Telangana government of betraying minorities and failing to honour its poll promises. Speaking at a meeting of Greater Hyderabad minorities at Telangana Bhavan, Rao said people are angry with the Revanth Reddy administration.
“Congress promised ₹4,000 crore for minorities, increased honorariums for imams and muezzins, and higher overseas scholarship limits, but has delivered nothing,” Rao alleged. He cited the shutdown of Shaadi Mubarak, KCR Kits, fee reimbursement, and Ramzan gifts as signs of neglect.
He claimed KCR was the first CM in India to give honorariums to imams and muezzins and had launched schemes that uplifted minorities with dignity. “KCR ensured a minister like Mahmood Ali took oath beside him. Revanth hasn’t inducted even one minority leader into his cabinet after two expansions,” Rao said.
Taking aim at Revanth Reddy personally, Rao mocked the CM for his “double identity,” claiming, “He says he studied at a BJP school but works for Congress. He is like a sunflower revolving around the BJP.”
He added that during KCR’s term, over 1.12 lakh minority women benefitted from Shaadi Mubarak. In contrast, Congress promised schemes but offered nothing. “The Revanth government is demolishing Muslim homes in the name of HYDRAA and Musi, without compensation,” he said.
Rao urged voters in Jubilee Hills to “teach Congress a lesson” by defeating them in the bypoll and ensure BRS regains power.
