Hyderabad: BRS MLA and former minister T Harish Rao launched a sharp attack on the BJP, accusing the party of systematically discriminating against Telangana on multiple fronts. He was addressing a large gathering of party workers in Gandhari mandal of Yellareddy constituency on Sunday.
Harish Rao said the BJP’s slogan “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” was hollow. “It’s not a policy—it’s pure bakwaas,” he declared. He criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for using lofty language about nationalism and dharma while denying justice to Telangana.
At the event, several BJP leaders and activists joined the BRS. Among them were senior movement leader Taanaji and over 150 former sarpanches and MPTCs. Harish Rao welcomed them back into the party and said people had now seen which government truly delivers on promises.
He argued that BJP never stood with the poor people, the farmers, or Dalits. “It only serves North India,” he said. He questioned why Telangana was treated like an outsider, despite being an integral part of India.
Harish Rao highlights neglect of Telangana on funds and MSP
Harish Rao alleged that although the Godavari flows into Telangana first, the Centre gave ₹100 crore to Andhra Pradesh for the 2027 Pushkaralu while giving nothing to Telangana. Despite electing 8 BJP MPs, Telangana received “zero” from the Union government, he said.
He also questioned why the Centre announced 157 new medical colleges but failed to approve even one for Telangana. He claimed that if BRS MPs were in Parliament, they would have forced Delhi to release rightful allocations.
Citing farm distress, he said Telangana’s farmers were losing ₹7,000 per acre because of skewed MSP rates. “In 2014, wheat and paddy MSPs were ₹1,400. Today wheat gets ₹2,585, paddy only ₹2,369. Why this ₹216 gap?” he asked. He blamed the BJP for favouring wheat-growing northern states at the cost of paddy-growing Telangana.
He further questioned why BJP helped TDP after Andhra’s election victory but ignored Telangana. “Why no special package, no budget allocations, no Navodaya schools, and no support for our paddy farmers?” he asked. Harish Rao said none of Telangana’s 8 BJP MPs or 2 Union Ministers dared to speak up for the state.
