BRS MLA Harish Rao has challenged Telangana CM Revanth Reddy to prove allegations of negligence in the SLBC tunnel incident, offering to resign if found guilty.
HYDERABAD: Former Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA T Harish Rao has issued a challenge to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy regarding allegations surrounding the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel incident. Addressing the media on Monday, Harish Rao refuted claims that negligence by the BRS government led to the mishap. He declared that if Chief Minister Revanth Reddy can substantiate these accusations, he is willing to resign from his MLA position.
Furthermore, Harish Rao questioned whether Revanth Reddy would resign from the Chief Minister’s post if the allegations were proven false. He criticized the government’s handling of the SLBC project, highlighting that even after ten days, officials have failed to locate the missing workers from the tunnel incident.
The remarks follow Revanth Reddy’s speech at a public meeting in Wanaparthy, where he attributed the SLBC tunnel collapse, which resulted in eight fatalities, to the BRS government’s failure to complete the project on time. The Chief Minister also accused the BRS leadership of nepotism, alleging that key positions were awarded to family members, thereby limiting opportunities for others.
Dismissing these allegations as baseless, Harish Rao challenged the Chief Minister to present concrete evidence. He also addressed personal accusations regarding his attendance at a wedding in Abu Dhabi during the crisis, clarifying that while he did attend the event, it did not interfere with his responsibilities.
The SLBC tunnel collapse has become a major political issue in Telangana, sparking a heated exchange between BRS and Congress leaders. With Assembly sessions approaching, the debate over the project’s execution and government accountability is expected to intensify.
