Hyderabad, January 29: Former Minister Harish Rao has criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for conducting government affairs from his Jubilee Hills residence and the Command Control Center, rather than the Secretariat. In a press note released on Wednesday, Rao questioned the Chief Minister’s commitment to public governance, highlighting the absence of the promised ‘praja darbar’ (public court) and daily interactions with citizens. He remarked that, despite these assurances, the Chief Minister has remained elusive for the past year.
Rao further alleged that government decisions are being made under police protection in village meetings and at the Command Control Center, questioning if this represents the ‘Indiramma Rajyam’ (Indira’s rule) that was promised. He criticised the practice of summoning ministers and officials to the Chief Minister’s Jubilee Hills residence and the Command Control Center, despite the availability of the spacious Ambedkar Secretariat, which houses all departments and offices in one place. Rao accused the Chief Minister of displaying arrogance by having ministers and officials repeatedly visit his residence, suggesting that the official residence is insufficient for his grandeur, leading him to operate from the Jubilee Hills palace.
These comments reflect ongoing political tensions in Telangana, with opposition leaders scrutinising the Chief Minister’s administrative choices and their alignment with public expectations.
