Harish Rao criticizes Congress and BJP, accuses Chandrababu of obstructing Telangana projects
HYDERABAD: Former Telangana minister and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao strongly criticized the Congress government in the state and the BJP-led central government, alleging that their negligence and biased approach were harming Telangana’s interests. Speaking to the media in Siddipet, he also accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of obstructing key irrigation projects in Telangana.
Harish Rao claimed that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) initiated several projects to protect Telangana’s water rights. However, due to the inefficiency of the Congress government and conspiracies led by Chandrababu Naidu, the BJP government at the Centre rejected Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of these projects.
Referring to Chandrababu Naidu’s recent statement that he never opposed the Kaleshwaram project, Harish Rao countered with documentary evidence. He pointed out that on June 13, 2018, Naidu had written a letter to the central government expressing “serious concern” over the approval of the Kaleshwaram project. Harish Rao questioned Naidu’s contradictory stance, stating that while he now claims he never tried to stop the project, his past actions tell a different story.
Harish Rao further alleged that Naidu opposed not just Kaleshwaram but also irrigation projects in Palamuru district. He claimed that Naidu wrote letters against increasing water allocations for the Kalwakurthy project and also opposed the Palamuru and Dindi lift irrigation schemes. He remarked that since Naidu became Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister, DPRs of several Telangana projects have been returned by the Centre.
Slamming the Congress government, Harish Rao accused them of failing to safeguard Telangana’s interests. He claimed that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy lacks the courage to question the BJP and the intelligence to counter Chandrababu Naidu’s political influence at the Centre. He challenged Reddy to prove his commitment to Telangana by securing approvals for pending projects and stopping illegal projects benefiting Andhra Pradesh.
