Job Failures

Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS leader T. Harish Rao met with students and unemployed youth at Telangana Bhavan and backed the proposed ‘Chalo Secretariat’ protest. He accused the Revanth Reddy-led government of failing to deliver on job-related promises and called for sustained pressure both inside and outside the Assembly.

Addressing the media, Harish Rao said unemployed youth from Osmania University, Ashok Nagar, and several districts had converged to demand action. He said BRS would stand with students and unemployed youth in their agitation. He credited KCR and the previous BRS government with modifying Presidential Orders to secure 95% local reservation in jobs, and claimed 1.62 lakh jobs were provided during their tenure.

He accused the current government of misleading the public with false claims and said the job calendar was released in the Assembly only after pressure from the opposition. He said the Revanth Reddy government had not issued notifications for departments like SPDCL, Forest, Police, DSC, and Groups, despite making promises in the job calendar.

Harish Rao described the job calendar as a “deception calendar” and criticised delays in issuing notifications, especially for the much-publicised Mega DSC. He claimed that after 20 months in power, the Congress government had failed to cross even 12,000 job appointments.

He compared average annual job appointments under the BRS (16,000) with the Congress government’s output, which he said had not even reached half that mark. He said instead of acting, Revanth Reddy was resorting to falsehoods and questioned why Priyanka Gandhi, who launched a youth declaration at Saroor Nagar Stadium, had remained silent on these unfulfilled commitments.

Harish Rao said not one of the five points from the Youth Declaration ₹25,000 monthly pension for martyr families, two lakh jobs, scooters for girls had been implemented. He accused the government of betraying SC, ST, and BC youth by scrapping GO 29.

He questioned the absence of Rahul Gandhi, who had promised two lakh jobs from the Central Library steps, and accused the Gandhi family of misleading unemployed youth. He demanded immediate implementation of promises and asked the government to publish a white paper on how and when 60,000 jobs were supposedly issued.

He criticised leaders like Balamoori Venkat and Akunuri Murali for misleading students, saying they had secured jobs for themselves while others were left unemployed. He alleged that authorities were not only threatening students and filing false cases, but also physically attacking those who raised questions. He urged unemployed youth not to be afraid and to continue protesting, assuring them of BRS support.

He demanded Revanth Reddy fulfil his promise of two lakh jobs. Referring to a student named Sridhar from Manakondur, Harish Rao said fee reimbursement had not been released and ₹3,000 crore in pending dues remained unpaid. He alleged that colleges were shutting down while the government had released ₹12,000 crore to big contractors.

He said during the BRS regime, ₹20,000 crore was released for fee reimbursement despite challenges. He accused the Congress government of showing disregard for SC, BC, and minority students and warned against “playing with students’ lives.” He demanded immediate release of pending reimbursements, fulfilment of two lakh job promise, provision of ₹4,000 monthly support, and distribution of scooters to girls.

Harish Rao also unveiled the poster for the ‘Hello Nirudyogi, Chalo Secretariat’ campaign during the interaction.
