Hyderabad: BRS MLA Harish Rao on Friday paid rich tribute to eminent irrigation engineer Nawab Ali Nawaz Jung Bahadur, calling him a foundational figure in Telangana’s irrigation legacy.
Marking Nawaz Jung’s birth anniversary, Harish Rao took to social media platform X to honor the legendary engineer, calling him a towering figure in the field on par with greats like Sir Arthur Cotton, Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, and K.L. Rao. He said Telangana was fortunate to have been the birthplace of such a visionary.
Recalling Nawaz Jung’s role in building the Nizam Sagar project, Harish Rao noted that the BRS government had revitalised the historic dam using waters from the Kaleshwaram project.
He said it was former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao who first decided to honour Nawaz Jung by observing his birth anniversary as Telangana Engineers Day ensuring his legacy is remembered by future generations.
Harish Rao also praised the role of engineers in Telangana’s reconstruction and called upon young professionals to draw inspiration from Nawaz Jung’s service to the nation. He extended heartfelt greetings to engineers on the occasion.
