Hyderabad: BRS MLA T. Harish Rao on Monday slammed the Telangana government for arresting students ahead of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s visit to Osmania University, calling the move “undemocratic and cowardly.” He demanded the immediate release of the detained students.
Harish Rao questioned whether prohibitory orders were being imposed on the entire Telangana society and accused the Congress government of betraying youth by failing to deliver on election promises. “Not just students, but the entire Telangana is questioning your false guarantees,” he said.
Harish Rao accuses Revanth Reddy of betraying youth on jobs
The BRS leader alleged that in the past 22 months, Revanth Reddy had done little apart from inaugurating projects launched during K. Chandrashekar Rao’s tenure. He accused the Chief Minister of turning the promised “job calendar” into a “jobless calendar” and claimed that the Congress government had failed to deliver two lakh jobs promised in its first year.
Harish Rao said unemployment allowance was another false assurance and charged that less than 10,000 appointments were made in 22 months, despite the government claiming 60,000 jobs. “Students and unemployed youth who question these lies are being booked under false cases,” he alleged.
He also criticised police action inside university libraries and said the Congress government bore responsibility for lathi-charges against students and job seekers. “No amount of restrictions, prohibitory orders, barricades or police force can crush the anger of unemployed youth,” Harish Rao warned.
The BRS MLA declared that Osmania University students and unemployed youth would continue to raise their voices like “lions” until the government fulfilled its commitments. He demanded that the Chief Minister apologise to students at Osmania University and implement all poll promises without delay.
