Hyderabad: BRS MLA and former minister T Harish Rao on Sunday accused the Congress-led Telangana government of failing to provide support to flood-hit families across the state.
Speaking at a relief event in Kasturbanagar, Ramgopalpet division, he alleged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had ignored the suffering of thousands affected by the recent floods. He claimed that no compensation had been distributed and essential supplies were missing, even as people lost homes, crops, and belongings.
Harish Rao visited around 1,500 affected families alongside BRS leader Talasani Srinivas Yadav. They distributed relief material and interacted with residents. He said the government’s failure to clear the city’s drainage system before the monsoon led to severe flooding.
BRS says poor planning worsened flood impact, no aid from govt
The BRS leader pointed out that during the previous BRS government, pre-monsoon checks were routine. “K Chandrashekhar Rao’s administration ensured annual preparation. Now, due to this government’s carelessness, seven to eight lives were lost in Hyderabad alone,” he said.

He noted that poor families lost furniture, clothing and food stocks. Moreover, he alleged that the Chief Minister had left slum residents to fend for themselves. “Instead of the government, it is Talasani who is helping them,” he remarked.
Harish Rao criticised the state’s focus on high-profile urban schemes like the proposed “Future City,” while neglecting basic civic issues. He also condemned the ten defected MLAs who continue to identify with the BRS publicly while siding with the Congress, calling it dishonest.
