Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao on Wednesday tore into Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s BC quota protest in Delhi, calling it a failed political stunt.
He mocked the demonstration as a “flop show,” saying it lacked credibility and public impact. “Revanth and his team put on a drama in Delhi under the banner of 42% reservation,” Rao said. “But even Rahul Gandhi, who lives just minutes away, didn’t bother to attend.”
Rao said Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also skipped the protest, suggesting their absence exposed a lack of conviction in Revanth’s campaign. “It’s clear neither Rahul nor Kharge believes in this agitation,” he said.
Rao pointed to a contradiction within the Congress ranks. “Revanth says they are not demanding anything from Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh or Maharashtra only 42% reservation for Telangana OBCs,” he noted. “Yet on the same day, Rahul Gandhi tweeted that this is a national fight. How can both be true?”
He accused the Congress of double standards and said the conflicting statements revealed the party’s shaky intent. “This doublespeak shows their real face. People have stopped trusting their 42% promise,” he said.
