Hyderabad: Former Minister T Harish Rao criticised the state government for failing to disburse promised compensation to the families affected by the Sigachi mishap, alleging negligence and lack of accountability.
Rao met with the Sangareddy Additional Collector to press for justice for the victims’ families. Addressing the media afterward, he said, “The Chief Minister had announced ₹1 crore compensation for each family of those killed in the Sigachi accident. Despite the announcement, the families are still waiting.”
He said relatives of the deceased are anxious and frustrated as days pass with no official clarity. “Families are demanding answers. Some have received only ₹1 lakh. There is no transparency. Even now, officials have not released a complete list of the deceased and injured,” he stated.
Harish Rao alleged that officials are offering careless responses when approached for updates. He demanded that the government release an official statement disclosing the number of victims compensated and the amounts disbursed.
