Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a rain alert for Hyderabad after continuous downpours drenched the city for the past four to five days. Heavy showers lashed several areas again at midnight on Sunday, flooding low-lying zones and disrupting traffic.
According to Telangana Weatherman, dry conditions will hold until Monday afternoon. Around 2 p.m., moderate to heavy rain is expected to develop and continue until midnight. Forecasters predict 25 mm to 55 mm of rain in several parts of the city. Officials urged residents to follow the rain alert and prepare for possible flooding.
Heavy rains for multiple Telangana districts
The IMD warned of heavy rain from afternoon to midnight in Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal, Nalgonda, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Mahabubabad, Khammam, Hanumakonda, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Mulugu districts. Authorities deployed emergency teams in these areas to respond quickly to any incidents.
Advisory for residents
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) asked residents to avoid waterlogged roads and secure outdoor items. The Disaster Response Force cleared blocked drains and removed fallen trees from key roads. Traffic police managed diversions to ease congestion in flooded areas.

Hyderabad recorded heavy showers in the past 24 hours. Malkajgiri, Charminar, and Kukatpally saw the worst flooding. Colonies in Alwal, LB Nagar, and Chandanagar reported ankle-deep water. In the districts, Khammam logged more than 6 cm of rain, while Mahabubabad and Mulugu each recorded over 5 cm.
