Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad on Monday forecast heavy rain in several Telangana districts under the combined effect of a surface circulation and a trough.

The IMD said Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal would receive heavy rainfall today. It warned of winds blowing at 30 to 40 kilometres per hour along with thunder and lightning.
It predicted light to moderate showers in other districts. Hyderabad would remain dry until the afternoon, but the city would see thunderstorms with lightning from the evening through the night.
Officials stated that the system would remain active throughout the week. They forecast thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across Telangana until September 27. The IMD added that a low-pressure system would form over the east-central Bay of Bengal near the north Bay on September 25.
It said the system would intensify into a depression on September 26 and cross the coast on September 27. Telangana would receive heavy to very heavy rainfall under its impact until September 27.
