Hyderabad: The northeast monsoon began withdrawing over Telangana, marking the seasonal reversal that follows the southwest monsoon. Weather officials said this phase usually brings the last spell of rain to parts of southern and eastern India.
This pattern typically occurs between October and December. It helps Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and eastern Telangana meet their annual rainfall needs. Officials said the monsoon’s withdrawal is now moving steadily across Telangana.
Heavy rain likely as northeast monsoon withdraws over Telangana
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast moderate to heavy rain in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh from today. The IMD also issued a yellow alert for several Telangana districts. These include Peddapalli, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanamkonda.
Officials said other districts may also receive moderate showers. Meanwhile, the IMD predicted heavy rainfall in Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Palnadu, and Guntur districts of Andhra Pradesh. It said light to moderate rain could occur in other areas as the monsoon continues to retreat.
