Hyderabad: After a brief lull, rains lashed Hyderabad and nearby districts on Friday night, bringing moderate to heavy showers across several areas. According to data from the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), rainfall between 20 mm and 52 mm was recorded in parts of Greater Hyderabad.
With the city observing a holiday on account of the 79th Independence Day, traffic was largely absent, although several main roads witnessed waterlogging. Officials said the impact remained minimal as fewer commuters ventured out.
Heavy showers in Medchal-Malkajgiri
The highest intensity of rainfall was concentrated in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. By 10.30 pm, Jeedimetla registered 52 mm, Shapurnagar 48.5 mm, Rajiv Gruhakalpa in Kukatpally 48.3 mm, Qutbullapur–Gajularamaram 46 mm, Shamshiguda in Kukatpally 43.8 mm, Gayatri Nagar ward office in Qutbullapur 41.3 mm, and Kukatpally Basthi Dawakhana 38.8 mm.
Other localities, including Patancheru, Alwal, Serilingampally, Balanagar, Ramchandrapuram, Kapra, Marredpally and Malkajgiri, also reported moderate rainfall.
