Hyderabad: Heavy rains disrupted normal life in Khammam city on Saturday, leaving several localities flooded. A downpour lasting nearly two hours from the afternoon caused waterlogging on major roads and residential areas.
Flooded roads and colonies
Areas including New Bus Stand, Raparthi Nagar, and Bypass Road were inundated as rainwater overflowed onto the streets. Residents in several colonies reported that water had entered their houses, causing inconvenience and damage.
In Sriram Nagar, opposite the New Bus Stand, overflowing drains pushed water onto the streets, turning the locality into a lake-like stretch. Residents said they alerted municipal officials, but no immediate response came.
Citizens demand action
Locals complained that poor drainage maintenance worsened the flooding. They urged the municipal corporation to inspect the affected colonies and take swift measures to prevent further damage.
