Hyderabad: Heavy overnight rainfall lashed Sangareddy district, flooding ponds, tanks and borewells, and sending excess water into streams and the Manjeera river. Several agricultural fields were submerged as water levels rose across villages.
Pulkal (Lakshmi Sagar) recorded the highest rainfall at 13.7 cm, while Mogudampalli reported the lowest at 0.73 cm. Valadri stream in Jharasangam overflowed, pushing water into tanks at Yedakulapalli, Pyaravaram, Elgoi and Jeerlapalli, which in turn discharged into the Manjeera. Pyaravaram stream also continued to run in spate.
Rainfall battered villages including Kuppanagar, Machnur, Krishnapur, Bardipur, Jeerlapalli, Jharasangam, Kakkeravada, Chilepalli, Chilapalli Tanda, Devarampalli, Edulapalli, Medapalli and Yedakulapalli. In Zaheerabad mandal, farmlands on either side of the National Investment Corridor from Hugelli to Bardipur resembled streams as floodwater spread across acres.
