Hyderabad: Heavy rains battered Warangal, Hanumakonda, and Kazipet from midnight on Monday, flooding low-lying areas and disrupting traffic. In Hanumakonda, waterlogging hit the bus stand, Chowrasta, and residential localities such as Hasanparthy, Reddypuram, Gokul Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, and New Shayampet. Officials urged residents in vulnerable spots to shift to safer places.
In Warangal city, floodwater submerged major roads. Water stagnated in Battala Bazaar and Old Beet Bazaar. Colonies in Hunter Road, NTR Nagar, Ramannapet, Shivanagar, Kareemabad, and Sakarashi Kunta went under water. At DK Nagar near Ursugutta, rainwater entered homes, prompting authorities to move hut dwellers to relief camps. Flooding on the Warangal–Khammam road stranded vehicles at several points.
Sangem mandal tops the rainfall chart
Sangem mandal in Warangal district recorded 20 cm of rainfall. Khila Warangal followed with 14.8 cm, Wardhannapet with 12 cm, Parvathagiri with 10.7 cm, Warangal city with 9.5 cm, and Geesukonda with 9.2 cm.
In the Mahabubabad district, Kothaguda and Gangaram mandals saw heavy rainfall, which caused streams to overflow. The Rallathoti Vagu near Kothaguda ran in spate, while the Paleru Vagu in Danthalapalli surged over the Pedda Mupparam–Danthalapalli bridge. This cut road access to nearby villages.
