Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted heavy rainfall across Telangana until September 27. A new low-pressure system is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal by Wednesday, increasing the intensity of rain.
Both Telugu States have already witnessed moderate to heavy showers over the past few days. The new weather system is likely to bring stronger rain bands starting Tuesday.
In Hyderabad, continuous rainfall since Monday evening disrupted daily life. The IMD issued a warning for intense showers in West Hyderabad, with thunderstorms expected from afternoon through the night. Authorities urged residents to stay indoors.
Districts including Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Siddipet, Rajanna Sircilla, Ranga Reddy, Mahabubnagar, and Narayanpet may experience gusty winds up to 40 km/h, along with moderate rainfall. Other areas are likely to receive light showers.
Yadadri district has already seen heavy rain. Overflowing drains and streams caused flooding in Sansthan Narayanpur, where water entered a poultry farm, damaging property and distressing local farmers.
Rainfall levels in Hyderabad reached 10.6 cm in Shaikpet, 10 cm in Khairatabad, 6.9 cm in Ameerpet, and 6.3 cm in Musheerabad.
