Hyderabad: Telangana remained under a wet spell for the second straight day on Tuesday, with several districts hit by heavy monsoon showers, lightning, and gusty winds.
Rain lashed Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Warangal, Adilabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Mahabubabad, and Jagtial, prompting the Indian Meteorological Department to issue a fresh warning for continued rain and thunderstorms over the next 48 hours.
In Bhupalpally, evening downpours drenched villages in Kataram, Madhapur, Mahamutharam, and Palimela mandals, some accompanied by thunder and lightning. Warangal city and surrounding areas—including Hanamkonda and Warangal Rural—saw similar weather.
Narsampet division reported rain and strong winds, while in Adilabad, mandals like Ichoda, Neeradigonda, Gudihatnur, and Sirikonda benefited from a good spell of showers that helped recharge tanks and local reservoirs.
In the Rajanna Sircilla district, rain was widespread. Vemulawada town, a popular temple hub, saw nearly two hours of heavy rain, leading to waterlogging on main roads and flooding in homes in the 16th ward. Auto drivers and commuters struggled through the water-clogged streets.
Mahabubabad district saw thunder-laced rain in Bayyaram, Mahabubabad, and Kothaguda mandals, while in Jagtial, Kadimial and nearby Kondagattu were hit by a sharp two-hour downpour.
Back in Hyderabad, the city baked under the heat for much of the day before a sudden afternoon drizzle cooled things down. Scattered showers touched parts of Greater Hyderabad and the fringes, offering brief relief from the heat.
