Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre on Thursday forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across multiple Telangana districts over the next two days. Officials also warned of thunderstorms, lightning, and winds at 30–40 km per hour, urging the public to remain cautious.
On Friday, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Suryapet, Hyderabad, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Narayanpet, Wanaparthy, Jogulamba Gadwal, Medchal–Malkajgiri, and Mahabubabad districts are expected to receive heavy showers.
Rains intensify across districts, traffic disrupted
On Saturday, the warning extends to Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal–Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Narayanpet, Wanaparthy, and Jogulamba Gadwal.
Meanwhile, heavy rain on Thursday disrupted normal life in several parts of Telangana. In the undivided Nalgonda region, floodwater surged over the Nagireddypalli low-level bridge on the Bhongir–Chityal main road. Police first allowed vehicles but later erected barricades on both sides as the current strengthened. Traffic came to a complete standstill, leaving vehicles lined up for kilometres.
According to rainfall reports, Yacharam in Rangareddy district recorded the highest rainfall of 18 cm. Mallampalli in Mulugu district and Kolanupaka in Yadadri district followed with 17.6 cm each. Motakondur in Yadadri district logged 16.5 cm, while Dulmitta in Siddipet district registered 15.3 cm. Hayathnagar in Rangareddy district measured 10.5 cm of rainfall.
Officials stated that they would closely monitor the evolving situation. They also alerted district administrations to take precautionary measures and remain on standby for possible emergencies.
