₹40 lakh hi-tech physiotherapy equipment launched at NIMS

Hyderabad: Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad launched ₹40 lakh worth of advanced physiotherapy equipment on Wednesday to improve patient treatment and rehabilitation. Director Prof. Bheerappa said the new devices mark a major step forward in applying technology to physiotherapy care.

He stated that NIMS continues to focus on providing top-quality medical services. The new systems will help the hospital deliver more precise and effective physiotherapy.

Among the equipment is a dynamometry-based force measurement system, which helps assess muscle strength, joint movement, and balance. This device will assist in treating muscle and bone conditions, sports injuries, post-surgical recovery, and fall prevention among older adults.

NIMS also introduced a foot pressure analysis system. This tool checks gait, posture, and uneven foot pressure. It is useful in diabetic foot care, sports rehab, orthopaedic care, and neurological recovery.

The hospital added shortwave diathermy as well. This tool delivers deep tissue therapy to reduce pain and swelling. It is especially helpful for arthritis, ligament injuries, chronic inflammation, frozen shoulder, and spine problems.

Prof. Bheerappa noted that NIMS is the first government hospital in Telangana to install such high-end physiotherapy tools.

Several senior doctors attended the launch, including Dean Prof. Liza Rajasekhar, Additional Medical Superintendents Dr. N. Krishna Reddy and Dr. Lakshmi Bhaskar, Associate Dean Dr. Sribhushan Raju, and Media Relations Officer Satya Goud. Department head Dr. Shravan Kumar and team members Dr. Naveen, Dr. Prasad, Dr. Praveen, and Dr. Sunit Vagre joined the event, along with students and staff.
