High Court Notice to Kabaddi Association over National Sports Code

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has issued notices to the state Kabaddi Association over alleged non-implementation of the National Sports Code of 2011. The directive came during a hearing on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Kabaddi coach C. Pavan Kumar Yadav.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin heard the matter. The petitioner’s counsel argued that the association continued to function with part-time members and employees, which violated the principles of the sports code. He further requested the court to direct the government to stop financial assistance for competitions and training until compliance was ensured.

Appearing for the government, Additional Advocate General Imran Khan submitted that the state’s role in the matter remained limited. After hearing both sides, the bench directed the issuance of notices to the Kabaddi Association and adjourned the case for four weeks.
