Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday quashed the criminal cases registered in 2021 against Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.
Court finds no evidence of disturbance during 2021 rally
The cases stemmed from a rally held on January 19, 2021, by Congress leaders, including two senior figures. The protest, from the Secretariat to Raj Bhavan, demanded repeal of the three central farm laws and reduction of petrol and diesel prices. Police had registered cases alleging that the rally was conducted without permission, that a gathering was held near the Telugu Talli statue, and that traffic was disrupted.
The petition to quash the cases was filed by Bhatti Vikramarka and Uttam Kumar Reddy. Justice K. Lakshman, after hearing arguments, ruled that no evidence was produced showing any disturbance to peace and order. He also observed that there was no proof of inflammatory speeches.
The court further quashed two cases filed against former MP G. Ranjith Kumar Reddy, which accused him of election irregularities.
