Hyderabad, January 10: In an unusual incident, a businessman in Himachal Pradesh received an electricity bill of over Rs 200 crore for a single month, leaving him stunned. The incident took place in Beherwin Jattan village of Hamirpur district.
Lalit Dhiman, a local businessman, was issued a bill of Rs 2,10,42,08,405 for the month of December 2024. Typically, Dhiman’s monthly electricity bill amounts to around Rs 2,500. Upon receiving the massive bill, he was left in a state of shock and approached the electricity board office immediately for clarification.
Officials investigated the matter and identified a technical error as the reason for the inflated bill. They corrected the bill amount, which was recalculated to Rs 4,047 for the month of December.
The error was promptly rectified, bringing relief to Dhiman, who expressed his astonishment at the initial amount. The electricity board assured him that measures would be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future.
