Hyderabad: Inflows into the Himayat Sagar reservoir rose steadily from Monday morning following rainfall in the catchment areas, prompting the opening of three gates to release excess water.
By 8 a.m., one additional gate was lifted by three feet, discharging 1,400 cusecs into the Musi River, according to an official release. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) said the reservoir was nearing full capacity.
Reservoir levels in Himayat Sagar and Osmansagar
At 10 a.m., Osmansagar recorded a water level of 1,783 feet against its full tank level (FTL) of 1,790 feet, with 400 cusecs of inflow from upstream. Himayat Sagar stood at 1,762.60 feet against an FTL of 1,763.50 feet, receiving 2,000 cusecs and discharging 2,400 cusecs.
HMWSSB said one gate at Himayat Sagar was open by one foot, while two gates were open by three feet, with inflows continuing for the past week.
