Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) invited tenders for the construction of an 18.17-km elevated corridor from Secunderabad Parade Grounds to Shamirpet, clearing the way for India’s longest steel bridge.
The state government proposed the project to ease traffic congestion for city commuters and travelers heading to north Telangana districts. HMDA estimated the cost at ₹2,232 crore and said work will begin soon after tendering.

Officials said 11.65 km of the corridor will be built entirely with steel, making it the longest steel bridge in the country. Only the foundations will use concrete, while the superstructure will rely on steel to ensure durability and faster completion.
The project will pass through Paradise, West Marredpally, Karkhana, Tirumalagiri, Alwal, and Hakimpet. Near the Hakimpet Army Airbase, engineers will construct a 450-metre underground tunnel. Authorities also plan to expand a six-kilometre stretch of road into six lanes.
The corridor will follow the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model, which officials said will speed up execution.
