Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) fined a Banjara Hills resident Rs 5,000 on Wednesday for wasting water through an overhead tank overflow.
Officials named the house owner as A Raj Kumar, who lives on Road No. 12 in Tattikhana. His consumer account number is 620611107.

Water from Kumar’s overhead tank spilt onto the street, creating visible wastage. A duty manager noticed the overflow and alerted senior officials. Acting on instructions from HMWSSB Managing Director K Ashok Reddy, staff issued a notice and levied the penalty.
The board warned that negligence in water storage would invite penalties. It urged citizens to maintain overhead tanks properly and prevent avoidable wastage.
