HYDERABAD, February 3: On Monday, a significant meeting was held at the Union Home Ministry office in Delhi to address unresolved issues stemming from the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The session was chaired by the Union Home Secretary and attended by the Chief Secretaries and other senior officials from both states.
Discussions centred on key pending matters between the two states, including the allocation of funds and projects as stipulated in the bifurcation act. The aim was to find amicable solutions to these longstanding issues.
This meeting follows previous efforts to resolve bifurcation-related disputes. Notably, on July 6, the Chief Ministers of both states convened in Hyderabad, agreeing to form a high-level committee comprising Chief Secretaries and three other members to address various pending concerns. They also proposed that if the committee couldn’t resolve certain issues, a ministerial committee would be established, and unresolved matters at that level would be escalated to meetings between the Chief Ministers.
Despite these initiatives, several issues remain unresolved, necessitating continued dialogue and collaboration between the two states and the central government. The outcome of the latest meeting is awaited, with expectations that it will pave the way for further progress in settling bifurcation-related disputes.
The Union Home Ministry has indicated that subsequent meetings will be scheduled in consultation with both states to ensure a comprehensive resolution of all outstanding issues.
