Hyderabad: A massive fire broke out late on Wednesday night at Balaji Ghee Store in Ameerpet, Hyderabad, creating panic among residents and commuters in the busy commercial hub. The incident coincided with Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations, when large crowds were still present in nearby areas.
Eyewitnesses said thick smoke engulfed the locality soon after flames erupted inside the store, located near Metro Pillar 1444. Locals immediately alerted the fire department, following which three fire tenders rushed to the spot. Firefighters battled for hours before bringing the blaze under control.
Flames spread to adjoining embroidery shop
Due to the intensity of the flames, the fire quickly spread to an adjoining embroidery shop, destroying goods stored inside. Officials said the extent of property loss was yet to be determined.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Police and fire officials have registered a case and begun an investigation.
