Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday criticised the state government’s decision to hike Hyderabad city bus fares, calling it “cruel and insensitive.” He said the fare increase would hurt poor and middle-class commuters the most.
In a post on X, KTR noted that the fares for city services had gone up by as much as ₹10. “Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has decided to loot the pockets of poor and middle-class commuters,” he wrote. He added that the hike would add nearly ₹500 a month to the travel expenses of regular passengers.
KTR demanded that the Chief Minister explain how low-income families could manage the extra cost.
KTR blames government for neglect and poor decisions
The BRS leader said student bus passes and T-24 ticket prices had already been raised earlier. “A 50 percent rise in minimum fares reflects the government’s poor policy decisions,” he remarked.

KTR accused CM Revanth Reddy of neglecting Hyderabad residents. He said the free bus travel scheme for women had already pushed the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) into financial stress. “Instead of rescuing the corporation, the government is crushing common citizens,” he said.
