Hyderabad: Crime in Hyderabad fell by 17 per cent between September 2024 and August 2025 compared to the previous year, City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand said on Sunday. Police registered 31,533 cases during the period, down from 38,206 in the previous cycle. He shared the figures during a crime review meeting with DCPs, senior officers from various wings, and field staff.
The commissioner stated that the decline in crime reflected the collective and coordinated efforts of all police units in the city. Murders declined from 85 to 73, showing a 14 per cent fall. Attempt-to-murder cases dropped from 259 to 185, while kidnappings fell from 698 to 616.
Hyderabad crime statistics show a major drop
Cybercrime cases also came down. Police reported 4,348 cases in the previous year, against 3,745 this year. Robberies fell from 701 to 578. Theft cases dropped sharply from 4,778 to 3,501.
Crimes against women also saw a decline. Sexual assault cases fell from 632 to 485, a reduction of 23 per cent. Kidnapping cases involving women came down from 265 to 239, while harassment cases remained nearly the same — 1,358 last year against 1,351 this year.
