Hyderabad: Cyber Crimes police arrested the main accused in a ₹25 lakh matrimonial fraud case. The gang cheated a victim by posing as brides through fake Instagram and WhatsApp profiles.
Police named the accused as Aneesa Mohmadyaseen Hundekar, 33, from Bijapur, Karnataka. Her partner, Zohar Fathima, 24, also from Bijapur, is on the run. Another accused, Mohammed Abdul Aamer, 31, from Hyderabad, arranged bank accounts for the fraud.
₹25 lakh matrimonial fraud used fake profiles and false emergencies
In March 2023, the complainant contacted Instagram ID “khoobsurat.rishte,” believing he was speaking to a genuine match. The accused made false video calls with edited photos and then asked for money, citing medical and personal problems. The victim transferred ₹25 lakh before realising the photos belonged to a Pakistani influencer.
Police seized two mobile phones, one laptop, one tab, five bank passbooks, three cheque books, and three debit cards. They booked the case under Cr. No. 1176/2025 with Sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the IT Act and Sections 318(4), 319(2) of BNS. Inspector K. Prasada Rao led the probe, under ACP R. G. Siva Maruthi.
Police urged citizens to check identities carefully before sharing money online. They warned against trusting profiles that avoid meetings, make quick commitments, or ask for cash. Victims of such scams can call 1930 or report at [cybercrime.gov.in](http://cybercrime.gov.in).
