The detainees were shifted to Narayanguda police station for questioning. Police are now tracing the source of the notes and their intended use.

Demonetisation was announced on November 8, 2016. The government then withdrew ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes. Later, ₹2,000 notes were also withdrawn in May 2023. Despite these steps, such currency still surfaces in Hyderabad.
