Hyderabad: Police seized a large amount of demonetised currency in Narayanguda. Task force officials detained four men in separate raids. They recovered three bags filled with ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes.
Two suspects were caught near Canara Bank opposite Shanti Theatre. Two others were picked up near the Water Works office. Officials estimated the value of the seized notes at nearly ₹2 crore.

The detainees were shifted to Narayanguda police station for questioning. Police are now tracing the source of the notes and their intended use.
Demonetisation was announced on November 8, 2016. The government then withdrew ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes. Later, ₹2,000 notes were also withdrawn in May 2023. Despite these steps, such currency still surfaces in Hyderabad.
