Hyderabad: A drug supplier was arrested on Wednesday with 7.5 kg of ganja in his possession following a joint operation by the Commissioner’s Task Force, South West Zone, and Kanchanbagh Police.
The accused, Mohd Amer, 27, a car driver from Errakunta, Balapur (Cyberabad), was apprehended near Hafeez Baba Nagar after procuring the narcotics from a local supplier identified as Mohd Ismail alias Shabba. Police said Amer had been buying ganja at ₹2,000 per 100 grams and selling it for ₹3,500–₹4,000 to local customers for profit.
Acting on credible input, the team intercepted Amer while he was transporting 7.5 kg of ganja. The total seized property is valued at ₹1,86,000.
Police revealed that Amer turned to the drug trade to support a lavish lifestyle he could not sustain through his driving job. He allegedly sourced the contraband from the Mangalhat area.
A case has been registered at Kanchanbagh Police Station under Cr. No. 87/2025 U/s 8(c) r/w 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act.
Police appealed to the public, especially parents, to remain vigilant about youth and student involvement in drugs. Authorities warned that substance abuse has led many young people into crime and urged citizens to share information about such activities to help maintain a drug-free city.
The arrest was made under the supervision of Inspectors G. Santosh Kumar (Task Force) and Y. Kamal Kumar (Kanchanbagh PS), with the assistance of SIs G. Vijayanand and K. Raju and their respective teams.
