Hyderabad: Telangana High Court on Friday quashed the FIR filed at Medipally police station against BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao and Suryapet MLA Jagadish Reddy in a case linked to fake videos during Council elections.
The case was registered after Congress candidate Naveen Kumar alleged that doctored videos were circulated to damage his reputation. He claimed both KTR and Jagadish Reddy were behind the content.
Following this, a case was booked at Medipally police station. KTR and Reddy filed a petition in the High Court seeking dismissal of the FIR.
Justice Mousumi Bhattacharya, after completing the hearing, delivered the verdict on Friday. The petitioners’ counsel, T. V. Ramana Rao, argued that the FIR was politically motivated and that the accused had made no personal remarks against the complainant.
The court noted that no substantial evidence supported the allegations and ruled that the FIR filed by Medipally police was unsustainable. It ordered the case be dismissed.
